Projects

Since its relocation to Princeton, the CSSP has initiated three major projects

  • Scottish Philosophy Wiki
This web base resource was launched last month at the International Symposium in September 2007. Its purpuse is to accumulate a wide-ranging source of specialist information and article on all aspects of Scottish philosophy that are collaboratively composed and revised. It presents a special opportunity for younger scholars and philosophers to make available the results of their research. Potential contributors are asked to register their interst and qualifications at cssp@ptsem.edu

  • History of Scottish Philosophy
An editorial committee has been established for the creation of a new, multi author, multi volume History of Scottish Philosophy, to be published by a major academic press. This new history has two main purposes - to embody the results of the huge amount of recent work that has been done on the Enlightenment period, and to extend scholarly inquiry into the pre-Enlightenment origins of Scottish philosophy and its continuation into the 19th and 20th centuries. It is hoped that the first volumes will appear by 2013, the 600th anniversary of Scotland's first university.

    Editorial Committee:
    Daniel Garber (Princeton University)
    Aaron Garret (Boston University)
    Gordon Graham (Princeton Theological Seminary)
    Paul Guyer (University of Pennsylvania)
James A. Harris (University St. Andrews)
    James Moore (Concordia University)
    Martin Stone (Leuven Katholische Universitat)
Arnould Visser (University of St. Andrews)

  • A Digital Archive of Scottish Philosophy
This planned project will seek to co-ordinate the digitization of rare materials relevant to Scottish philosophy currently held in different libraries.
