For locally-produced photocopy reproductions, we will add a 590 local note to the bibliographic record. For example:
590 ## Library’s copy is a photocopy reproduction.
590 ## Library’s copy 2 is a photocopy reproduction.
590 ## Main Stacks copy is a photocopy reproduction. (If there is a copy in more than one location in the library)
Local notes should be the last note listed on the record. So, add the 590 field after all the other notes.
We will not add a work letter “a” to the call number for locally-produced photocopy reproductions. The work letter “a” is added to the call number for commercially produced facsimile reproductions, e.g., UMI Dissertation Services.
For commercially-produced photocopy reproductions, for example, UMI dissertations, we will follow LC practice for reproductions. These bibliographic records will have a 533 reproduction note and a work letter “a” added to the date of the call number.
