Pamphlets: Cataloging and Binding Procedure

  • When cataloging pamphlets, you should print out one spine label and one long label.

  • Do not attach any of the labels. Just paper clip the labels to the pamphlet and give to either Donna Quick or Betsy Soans in circulation. They will put the pamphlets in binders and apply the labels.

  • Generally, a pamphlet should be a single signature with staples through the fold and less than 100 pages.

  • Consider each item on a case-by-case basis. If you think that something is too flimsy to go out to the stacks without a binder, treat as a pamphlet or give to Beverley to send to the bindery.

Rush cataloging

  • The circulation staff will do a rush pamphlet bind if we have a rush cataloging pamphlet. Once we stamp and strip the pamphlet, it should be taken to a circulation supervisor.
