1. Continue as started with the Latin American periodical titles we have already bound. So, if we started binding by year, use year. If we were binding by volume, use volume.
2. For new Latin American titles that we have not started binding, bind by volume if the volume numbering is not irregular. Also put the volume numbers on the mid-spine area.
3. If the only numbering for the periodical is issue numbers, bind by year or years and put the issue numbers in the mid-spine area if they are not irregular.
4. Along with volume or issue numbers, always include the year or years in the mid-spine area unless there is no year on the issues in hand.
5. If the volume and/or issue numbers are very irregular and confusing, bind by year and put year only in the mid-spine area. For these titles the cataloger will try to include volume and/or issue numbers with the call numbers on the spine labels.
