When we have a copy in Reference and a copy in Main Stacks, they are not designated “c.1” and “c.2” on the spine label, since they are in different locations. We only use copy numbers for books in the same location.
When we do have multiple copies in one location, we begin the copy designation with “c.2” on the spine label. Do not use “c.1” on the spine label even when you are labeling both copies instead start the copy numbers with c.2, c.3, etc.
